2 Hospitalized After Motorcycle, Car Collide in Downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA – A motorcycle operator and their passenger were seriously hurt early Wednesday after a crash involving another vehicle in downtown Pittsburgh, reports Post-Gazette.

Local officials said the incident occurred in the area of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue, near Mellon Square.

Two people were riding a motorcycle when it collided with the driver’s side of a car. One of the drivers allegedly failed to stop for a red light at the intersection.

Both the motorcycle operator and their passenger were rushed to an area hospital where they were listed in critical and stable condition, respectively. No injuries to the other driver were reported.

Crews had the intersection closed to traffic until about 2:15 a.m. to accommodate an investigation.

No information regarding pending charges or citations has been released.
