ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – Authorities were called to a crash involving a Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) bus early Friday, November 29, in Penn Hills, according to WTAE.
The accident happened on a stretch of Frankstown Road near Coral Drive, prompting an emergency response at about 5:30 a.m.
According to a PRT spokesman, a driver in a pickup truck veered into the opposing lane and hit the bus head-on.
Both drivers, who were left trapped by the impact, had to be extricated by first responders. The driver of the pickup, who was unconscious, was rushed to an area hospital along with the driver of the bus.
The sole passenger of the bus, who did not initially accept medical treatment, later reported an injury to their leg.
Crews had part of Frankstown Road blocked for about three hours during the response and investigation.
