SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, PA – A school bus was involved in a collision with two other vehicles in Summit Township on Thursday afternoon, WTAE reports.
The crash took place at the intersection of Chicora Road and Oneida Valley Road at about 3:10 p.m. An investigation determined that a driver made a left turn to enter State Road 422 and went through a red turning light. The vehicle rear-ended a Butler Area School District bus that was in the right-hand northbound lane. A third vehicle in the left lane behind the bus was also hit.
42 students were on the bus at the time. Two of them suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital. Seven others were evaluated at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that initially made the left turn before hitting the bus was cited with Vehicle Code Violations.
