Accident Closes Section of Eastbound I-70 Near West Alexander

WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA – Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a collision Tuesday morning on Interstate 70 near West Alexander, according to WPXI.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes of I-70 (Eisenhower Highway) at mile marker 2. It was first reported by WPXI shortly before 12:00 p.m.

Officials have not released a statement indicating the circumstances of the incident, but an update from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) showed that part of the eastbound interstate was blocked near the border with West Virginia.

By the time of WPXI’s report, one travel lane had reopened to traffic, but motorists were instructed to avoid the scene.

No major injuries and/or hospitalizations have been confirmed as of this writing.
