Accident In Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill Tunnel Injures 1, Shuts Down Roadway

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – The Squirrel Hill Tunnel in Pittsburgh was temporarily shut down on Sunday afternoon due to a crash on the outbound side, TribLive reported.

The circumstances that led to the accident were not yet clear, but Allegheny County dispatch said emergency crews arrived shortly after 2 p.m. and worked to remove the vehicles involved.

An ambulance was dispatched to transport one injured person to an area hospital.  There was no word on the victim’s condition.

The tunnel was reopened to traffic later in the afternoon after the wreck had been cleared.
