Charter Bus Strikes Home in Erie County, Sending Nearly 12 Kids to Hospital

ERIE COUNTY, PA – Multiple children were taken to a hospital Wednesday morning following an East Springfield crash involving a charter bus, according to ABC27.

The accident happened in the 4900 block of State Route 215, prompting an emergency response shortly after 10:20 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police and West County Paramedics said a charter bus occupied by dozens of children and teachers was en route to Camp Fitch. Shortly after the bus entered the intersection of PA-215 and PA-20 (Ridge Road), it was forced off the roadway, just missing a collision with a produce truck heading westbound on PA-20. However, the bus went on to hit the front of a residence, which sustained significant damage, and the box truck came to a stop after colliding with a cluster of trees.

Of the nearly 40 people aboard the bus, as many as 12 kids were transported to an area hospital for relatively minor injuries.

The PSP continues to investigate, but no charges or citations have been announced at this time.
