PITTSBURGH, PA – One person was sent to the hospital after an incident involving a coasting school bus in southeast Pittsburgh, according to CBS News Pittsburgh.
The events unfolded at Pittsburgh Minadeo PreK-5, which is located off Lilac Street, in the city’s Greenfield neighborhood.
A spokesperson with Pittsburgh Public Schools said students were being transported to the school, Pittsburgh Minadeo PreK-5, when the driver got off the bus. Moments later, the bus began to slide down the roadway, ultimately colliding with a fence and then a pole on the property.
The driver, who tried to get back on the bus as it was moving, suffered injuries. The patient was taken to a nearby hospital where their condition remains undisclosed.
While a number of students were aboard the bus at the time of the incident, no one else was reported hurt.
Crews required an extra-large tow truck to clear the vehicle from the area.
An investigation remains underway.
