BEAVER COUNTY, PA – Authorities said they apprehended a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a man in Monaca on Saturday, WTAE reported.
The 76-year-old victim was hit by a vehicle in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and 12th Street. He was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
Investigators said the driver left the scene after the incident but was later identified through the use of surveillance footage from a nearby gas station. He was reported to have left the gas station and been driving south on Pennsylvania just before hitting the pedestrian.
The suspect, reported to be a 38-year-old Aliquippa man, faces multiple charges including accidents involving death or personal injury as well as charges for failing to stop, notify police of the accident or render aid.
