Multi-Vehicle Wreck Blocks Part of Northbound I-279 Near Point State Park

PITTSBURGH, PA – Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon on Interstate 279 in downtown Pittsburgh, according to 511PA Pittsburgh.

The accident happened on the northbound lanes at Exit 70A to Liberty Avenue and PPG Paints Arena, in an area just south of Point State Park.

Little information has been shared at this time, but at least one travel lane was shut down in the immediate aftermath.

Local agencies have not indicated what led up to the crash or exactly how many vehicles were impacted.
