Person Sent to Hospital Following Pair of Crashes in Squirrel Hill Tunnel

PITTSBURGH, PA – Medics were called to the scene of two crashes Friday evening, November 22, in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill Tunnel, according to WTAE.

The incidents were reported on the outbound lanes of the tunnel, which runs through the city’s Squirrel Hill South neighborhood. By the time of WTAE’s update at 6:07 p.m., crews had cleared the scene and the tunnel was reopened after a closure.

At this time, local officials have not released any information about the circumstances of the crashes and how they were linked, but one person had to be transported to a local hospital.

The extent of injuries sustained remains unclear, and no charges have been announced.
