PITTSBURGH, PA – A woman was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon, CBS Pittsburgh reports.
The incident unfolded in the area of Brushton Avenue and Hamilton Avenue in the Homewood South neighborhood at about 2:40 p.m. Police said the driver of a U-Haul truck went through a red light and crashed into an SUV. After getting out to argue with the SUV driver, a 70-year-old woman, the truck driver took off from the scene and in the process, struck the woman.
She was taken to an area hospital and listed in critical condition while a man with her in the SUV was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The U-Haul truck was found abandoned a couple of miles away on Clark Street in Wilkinsburg, but the driver reportedly fled on foot and has yet to be located.
